Building things that work

I'm Mikheil Kuzmidi — a CS + Finance student based in San Francisco. I build web applications and AI tools, and I shoot photography on the side.

What I build

Most of my time goes into web applications and AI tools, working mainly with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. I'm drawn to projects where the engineering and the interface have to agree with each other — where something only feels finished once the code underneath and the design on top are both doing their job. I try to ship the simplest version that actually solves the problem before reaching for anything clever, and I'd rather cut a feature than leave one half-working.

A few of the things I've built are collected in the work section of this site — small tools and applications rather than a long résumé. I'm more interested in what a project does than in the list of technologies behind it, though the stack is usually some combination of the ones above plus whatever the problem genuinely needs. The Finance side of my studies mostly shows up in how I think about tradeoffs: what something costs to build and maintain, and whether the added complexity is actually worth it.

Photography

Outside of code, I'm a photographer. I shoot to capture moments and perspectives that tell a story visually, and a lot of that work lives in the gallery here. The habits it takes — watching for composition, light, and timing, and being patient enough to wait for the right frame — carry back into how I design and build software. It's probably why I care as much about how an interface feels as about whether it works.
